Quick response to train derailment
Late one Friday afternoon, Tandet Logistics received a call from Terra Industries about a five-car train derailment in the CN yard in Sarnia involving one of their products. Two of the cars were filled with a shipment of Urea (fertilizer).
In response to this call, a Tandet crew was quickly assembled, consisting of Dave Herdman, Gord Jackman and his son Adam. This elite crew trained in emergency response worked through the weekend to clean-up the rail yard. More than $75,000 of uncontaminated product was returned to the Terra plant.
The Tandet Logistics Sarnia personnel are extremely knowledgeable in emergency response procedures since they undertake continual training and in fact help teach other emergency crews on procedures in dealing with oil and chemical tanker spills through Tandet's affiliation with Lambton College.
For more information for your fleet, call Dave Herdman, Safety and Training Supervisor at 1-888-740-3723 or email dherdman@tandet.com
